14 # How to Install Omybuntu

13 Omybuntu is officially distributed as a ready-to-use ISO. The script-based flow below is an alternative path for existing Ubuntu 26.04 LTS systems.

11 [01] Official Method: Ready-to-use ISO (Recommended)

10 Download and flash the official pre-configured Omybuntu ISO for the cleanest, most optimized deployment and the exact reference environment.

8 [02] Alternative Method: CLI Script (Install Dependencies)

7 This alternative path requires a standard Ubuntu 26.04 LTS installation. Make sure curl, wget and git are already installed before running the boot script:

$ sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y curl wget git

4 [03] Run the Boot Script

3 Run the installation command in your terminal with either cURL or Wget:

$ bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/erickdevit/omybuntu/master/boot.sh)"

3 [04] Configure Interactive Options (Assistant)

4 First choose the installer language. Then decide whether to keep or remove the default Ubuntu GNOME session:

5 • Keep GNOME (Dual Environment): Keeps both Hyprland and the stock Ubuntu desktop available at login. Choose this when you want broader compatibility and an easier fallback path.

6 • Remove GNOME (Pure Hyprland): Replaces the default Ubuntu interface with a leaner Hyprland-only environment. Choose this when you want lower RAM usage, fewer background services and a cleaner final system.

Omybuntu is an open source project created by Erick Devit and has no commercial affiliation with Canonical. The project adapts the visual and operational philosophy initiated by Omarchy for Ubuntu:

Omarchy: The base project created by David Heinemeier Hansson (DHH) with the Omarchy team, combining the Omakase concept with Hyprland on Arch Linux environments.
Ubuntu: The LTS base maintained by Canonical and the Ubuntu community, used as the foundation for the Omybuntu experience.
Omybuntu: The adaptation for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS created and maintained by Erick Devit, focused on bringing the Omarchy experience to the Ubuntu base.
